The Wharf, Bahama Bobs, West Beach, Pier 33, Ikes Beach Rentals…What to do?
January 14th, 2008I get the call from many people who have yet to experience the delights that our beach and fantastic community have to offer. I tell them they are in for a treat — there really isn’t much traffic, people are nice here and there is finally a lot more stuff to do! By Summer, the new restaurant with outdoor pool (where Hwy 59 hits the beach) will be up and rocking for families who seek to do something other than hit Lulu’s and wait in obscene lines to eat mediocre food in the summer. I like Lulu’s atmosphere and will wait there for 15-30 minutes, but the 1-2 hour waits in the summer are ridiculous and this new restaurant and beach club will offer a great alternative with the same type of atmosphere. What’s more, is it will be within walking distance of all the the gulf Shores condos I manage. Also, within walking distance — The Pink Pony Pub (great entertainment and deck) - Bahama Bobs (pecan encrusted grouper is tough to beat) - Pier 33 (to stock up on what you might have forgotten at the store and some knick knacks). We also have the the new Pinnacle place shopping center with many dining options and some healthy ones. Mellow Mushroom Pizza in Foley and Lamberts remains in my top 15. Seafood wise — Oyster house has the best crab cakes on the island and fantastic cheese grits. I used to hate grits, but this is the restaurant that turned it around for me and now bring them on.
I think this summer and spring are shaping up to be great. Hit the Flora Bama for a great night out sans kids and plan to dance on a table. Also, the Live Bait, Mangos (in Orange Beach) and Louisiana Lagniappe — are very good and popular as well.
Ikes Beach rentals? You want to jet ski? Call Ike. You can pick it up on westbeach and head out the lagoon through the pass. Dolphin cruises are also highly popular.
